In order to alleviate the problem that Fuxing District has been affected by natural disasters for a long time and may form power islands, National Central University, Xiayunli, Fuxing District, Taoyuan City, and Jieming New Energy Co., Ltd. worked together to create a smart and resilient tribe USR plan, with Xiayunli as the center The demonstration tribe builds a "micro-grid system" to create a sustainable environment.
The Wisdom and Resilience Tribe USR project takes "Fuxing District, Taoyuan City" as the practice site. A team composed of teachers and students from the College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Institute of Environmental Engineering, and General Education Center of Central University, through the four sub-items of "Smart Disaster Prevention", "Smart Energy", "Sustainable Water Source" and "Tribal Creation" Planning and local cooperation. Based on "Environmental Sustainability" and aiming at "Responding to Sustainable Development and Building Resilient Communities", it is hoped that through cross-domain cooperation, the revitalized area will become the energy of a resilient community, thereby retaining and attracting young people, and working together to promote local industry and form a good relationship with the local area.
The Fuxing District of Taoyuan City is located in a mountainous area and is an important catchment area for the Shimen Reservoir. At the same time, there are many areas with high island potential, which are often affected by natural disasters such as slope slides and typhoons, resulting in road interruptions, power shortages, and water shortages. Once an isolated island area is formed, it will be difficult to grasp the internal situation of the area, which may delay the speed of disaster relief and increase the intensity of disaster relief. Energy issues have become one of the important local issues.
Xiao Shusan, dean of the School of Engineering of Central University, the chief planner of the project, said that the Fuxing District is also affected by the "hometown" and "remote village" factors, which makes local employment opportunities insufficient, earning a living is difficult, and the youth population outflow is serious. In addition to using school resources and field expertise to solve energy problems, the Central University team also hopes to learn and benefit from local residents in the process. The host of the "Smart Energy" sub-project, Distinguished Professor Zeng Zhongren, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Central University, mentioned that a reliable emergency power system can maintain the operation of communications and basic systems, and the construction of local energy and decentralized micro-grid systems can reduce power islands probability of occurrence.
There are currently 12 shelters in Fuxing District, one of which is located in the Xiayunli Activity Center in Fuxing District. According to on-site visits and understanding, there is no comprehensive emergency power plan in the area. After communicating with Yang Mifeng, head of Xiayunli in Fuxing District, it was decided to give priority to improving the power problem for emergency disaster backup. The strategic partner of the team plan, Jieming New Energy Co., Ltd., after evaluating the local environment and climatic conditions, built a set of self-contained "rural micro-grid demonstration system" in the Xiayunli office. Solar energy will be used for power generation and energy storage in normal times. When a disaster strikes, it can provide basic lighting, communication and people's livelihood power needs, avoiding power outages and phone calls due to natural disasters.
This plan is currently taking Xiayunli as a demonstration tribe, integrating solar photovoltaics and energy storage small micro-grid systems to provide emergency power for offices in the village, and combining smart power management systems to extend the effective power supply time and make good use of green energy to achieve System energy saving target. The follow-up planning team and the tribe will continue to observe and evaluate the operation and applicability of the system, and jointly practice the sustainable homeland.
