Ming Chi university of technology (MCUT) implemented New Taipei City's "112th Zero-Carbon Demonstration Site Promotion Subsidy Plan" and completed the campus micro-net grid photovoltaic charging and storage system in more than a year. The opening ceremony was held on April 22. Representatives from the College of Engineering, Hong Guoyong, and New Taipei City Economic Development Bureau Director Sheng Xiaorong attended the meeting. The school's Department of Electrical Engineering Dean Chen Qiong'an, project chair professor Luo Qingquan, Industry-University Development Center Director Feng Kuizhi, as well as the New Taipei City Office and several industry representatives attended the meeting.
In her speech, Sheng Xiaorong stated that in 2021, Mayor Hou Youyi vowed to "turn around to zero carbon, with New Taipei taking the lead." After four years of hard work, this year the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 30% will be achieved, and we will continue to move towards net zero by 2050. She emphasized that New Taipei City has built a total of 1.87 million watts of solar energy and generated 195 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity. It has also worked with businesses to push the city toward net zero carbon reduction through a variety of renewable energy sources such as geothermal and wind energy. It has also subsidized schools to establish demonstration sites, which will be promoted externally after verification. Energy storage in factories will have great application value. Ming Chi University of Science and Technology is a very successful example. Its professional designs in various aspects were recognized by experts, and thus it won the first prize.
